Mary Jane Dougherty, a renowned homemaker and master of conversation, left this world on December 11, 2024, in St. Joseph, MI. Born on September 8, 1960, in the sunny paradise of Van Nuys, CA, Mary Jane was not just a talker but a master communicator, able to make a friend out of anyone she met. You could count on her to lighten up any room with her jokes, her loving heart, and her generally free-spirited demeanor.

Known affectionately for her infectious personality, Mary Jane was a natural jokester who could light up any room with her humor. She truly had a gift for conversation, able to make friends with anyone she met, forging connections that lasted a lifetime. Her loving heart and selfless nature made her the cornerstone of her family, always present to support and uplift those she loved. A free spirit at heart, Mary Jane embraced life with enthusiasm, whether it was during camping trips under the stars, sharing her love of horses with her family, or cheering for her favorite NFL football team on game day.

Mary Jane leaves behind an enthusiastic and loving roster of family members who will carry her spirit forward.

Mary Jane is survived by her adoring daughter Theresa Ann Ballard, along with her son-in-law Rafael, and children: Araya, James "Bub," Paityn, and Chrislyn, whose laughter echoed throughout many a family gathering (though we can’t forget the little blessings of Octayvia & Breyanna, who are always remembered in love).

Her legacy further flourishes through her son David Anthony Ray Ballard, alongside his Fiancée Tina, and their fabulous children: Whitney, Duke, Madison, Christiyana, and Daniel.

Joseph "Joey" Allen Shipman brings more joy into the world with his wife Lorena and their lovely little ones, Gisele and Juleus.

Patrick "PJ" Joseph Dougherty and his wife Andrea marvel at their lively brood, which includes Olivia, Sidney, and Hunter.

Mary Jane’s grand venture continues with her daughter Cassie Nicole Dougherty, who shares a delightful crew: Jocelyn "Jo", Nathan, Lexie, and Damien.

Mary Jane was reunited with her brothers: Frederick Hensley Jr. (Leizl) "Uncle Fred," Franklin "Frank" Hensley (Antonia), and Anthony "Tony" Ray Hensley (Rosy) along with 9 Nieces and Nephews and 5 Great Nieces and Nephews in 2016 before she passed, cherishing the moments they had together as a family once again.

The memory of Mary Jane will forever be kept alive by her loving family, each one a testament to her nurturing love. Her dogs, Precious (Chihuahua) and Nugget (Terrier Mix), were also a big part of her heart, sharing her home and life with joyful companionship.

Mary Jane was preceded in death by her Husband, Patrick Michael Dougherty, and Mother, Mary Theresa Escalera. Together they will forever hold a place in the hearts of those who cherish them.
