Huntter Irene Shingledecker, a shining light in the lives she touched, passed away unexpectedly on March 7, 2025, in Sturgis, Michigan. Born on April 9, 1997, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Huntter was a remarkable individual whose spirit resonated with love and compassion for all.
Huntter embodied a nurturing spirit, always eager to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her warm heart was reflected in her unwavering belief in the importance of family, much like her favorite Disney character, Stitch, from "Lilo and Stitch." To Huntter, family was everything, and she cherished the bonds that brought people together.
She found joy in her creative pursuits, delighting in drawing and coloring, and expressed her love for Disney through her art and daily life. Her passion for creativity was matched only by her devotion to her children. Huntter's proudest accomplishments were her four beautiful children: Nicholas Wayne Hicks, Nevaeh Irene Hicks, Gabriel Michael Hicks, and Gracie Annmarie Hicks. They were the bright stars in her universe.
Huntter is lovingly remembered by her mother, Theresa Marie Shingledecker; her brothers, Jake Allen Shingledecker and Andrew Lee Shingledecker; her grandmother, Sharon Shingledecker; and the father of her children, Jeremiah Hicks. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who will carry her memory in their hearts.
While she is preceded in death by her father, Mark Anthony Shingledecker, and her beloved grandparents—Charlie Shingledecker, Irene Angelo, and Ray Thomas—the legacy of love and kindness she leaves behind will forever resonate through the lives she touched.
Huntter Irene Shingledecker lived a life filled with compassion, creativity, and an enduring belief in the power of family. Her spirit will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have known her, as she now watches over her loved ones, forever a part of their stories.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date. In her last act of giving, she was a donor to Gift of Life to be able to help others. The family requests memorial contributions in Huntter's memory be made to the American Heart Association.
